About

Welcome to the Ministry of Defence consultations website. This site is where you can find out about our consultations. It also provides you with a tool to give your feedback to the Ministry of Defence. You can subscribe to this site’s Post or Comment RSS feeds at the foot of this page or comment on the consultations you see in the left hand navigation.

How will we use this site?

In the past it has been difficult to provide opportunities for all organisations, large and small, and the general public to engage with the Ministry of Defence. This site will allow all readers to leave comments on the consultations that we run here. Your input into our consultations is of the utmost importance to us, and will aid us in our aims to be a transparent government department and shape defence for the future.

Please ensure that you read the section entitled ‘Rules of Use’ before you submit a comment to this website. Any comments not conforming to these rules will be deleted.

Thank you for all your comments.

Equipment, Support, and Technology for UK Defence and Security: A Consultation Document – Comment information

The ‘Equipment, Support, and Technology for UK Defence and Security: A Consultation Document’ (Cm 7989) will be used to discuss the proposals for the Government to create formal policy covering how the UK Government should acquire equipment, support, and technology for UK defence and security.  The purpose of this consultation is to seek feedback from key stakeholders such as academia, industry, service providers, trade bodies and trade unions.  Whilst we welcome any general comments on the paper, we are seeking views on specific questions relating to the following areas:

National Security
Sovereignty
Working with other countries
Science and Technology
Delivery
Exports
SMEs
Working with our Suppliers
Wider Impacts

The links to documents on the left hand ‘Sections’ pane lists will take you to the individual sections of the Green Paper. These sections are intended to give you some background on the questions.  You can leave comments under the question posts, but you will not be able to leave comments on the sections texts as they are there for information purposes only.

However, you may leave your comments on any other aspect, not covered by the specific sub-sections, in the 4.3 Conclusion post.
