Personal identification

All comments must include your name and a valid email address. Material designed to mislead people about who originated or authorised it will be deleted.

Please limit your comments to the subject under discussion. We will delete all comments that stray too far from the topic.

All inputs should be courteous to other users – any comments which the MOD judges to be offensive or designed to be deliberately provocative will be deleted.

The use of any obscenities or profanities will not be tolerated. Comments should not include offensive, indecent or obscene material or abusive images and literature or links to them.

No attacks of a personal nature should be made against other contributors. No material which can reasonably considered as harassment of, or insulting to, other people or organisations should be posted in your comments.

No form of gaming, lottery, betting, chain schemes (such as pyramid selling) or share dealing (or links to same) will be allowed in your comments.

Advertising, spam and research

No advertising or promotion will be allowed on this site, including links to commercial auction sites.

A disproportionate number of comments from one individual will be classed as spam and all comments from that individual will be deleted. Any attempts to monopolise comment boards with repeated and excessive submissions will not be accepted.

Information about locating and sharing knowledge and expertise is welcomed, but within the specific discussion provided.

Propriety and moderation

This is a Government website and comments used for party political purposes will be removed.

We will not edit any of your comments, but we may contact you if your comments contravene these rules or if we would like to discuss your comments further.

Please note that discussion should be limited to the subject that the comments box is attached to. Any comments which digress too far from the subject under discussion will not be published.

The MOD reserves the right to ignore, limit or suspend comments or responses to comments, locally or universally and without prior notice, if we judge that these are becoming a waste of official funds, or Armed Forces’ or Civil Service time.
